Of Potty, Playoffs and Packers...

  • Mood:

Not sure those all should have been capital P's.    I've known for a couple months now that we really must turn our attention towards potty training if I'm to have any hope of getting Leah trained by summer.  She's certainly smart enough.  I'm just dragging my feet b/c I know the amount of effort and supervision and TIME it requires.  And I know how easily distractible I am.  We tested the waters a couple days ago.  Leah spent a good part of the day 'nekkid' from the waist down, AND we had a success rate of about 50/50.  This was encouraging to me b/c to that point we hadn't ever had her actually go in the potty.....and she went several times that day!  So, it has to be dawning on her that this is the way to do it.  However, the only reason for the success we had was that I was plopping her on the toilet every half hour and keeping her there until she went.  And the second I went longer than that or got busy doing something....she'd go elsewhere.  Granted, she told me right away!  And once she told me she had to go WHILE she was going.  But we obviously haven't gotten the concept that if we feel something coming, we need to HOLD it until mommy gets us to the potty.  However, I'm still encouraged.  I think she should be relatively easy if I can just commit to a good few days of work.  And, if she can get over the poo phobia.  (she's like Johnny in that respect...preferring to find a private corner or closet, and panicking at the idea of letting loose in the toilet)

This is Wildcard weekend....the NFL playoffs began yesterday.  The excitement in WI has been rising over the last few weeks as we have realized that Yes, it's true....Green Bay actually has a decent chance of making the SuperBowl!  Dallas has lost some momentum over the last couple weeks and are now looking more beatable.  However, we were disappointed last night when Seattle beat Washington.  The Seahawks make me nervous.  First off, their pass rush defense was all over Todd Collins....we can't have them pressuring Favre like that.  Secondly, Mike Holmgren (being a former Packer coach) knows Brett too well.  It just makes me nervous.  I know our offensive line is better than the Redskins.  We were very strong at the beginning of the year.  But we've had some injuries since then.  It just seems iffy.  If it's a messy day, if there's too much pressure on Favre, if he's weirded out or affected by his former coach (who was and is a big yeller at QBs), I don't know....it could go badly.  In our favor, Matt Hasslebeck didn't look great last night at all, and is nursing an injury.  We have guys who can make plays and get interceptions too.  He won't get away with any mistakes.  Plus, the fact that Brett knows Mike Holmgren can also work in our favor.

SO, I will hope for the best!  GO PACK!  They SHOULD win...they are expected to win, it just may be a nail biter.  We are now waiting to see who will have a chance at the Cowboys.  Right now, it's looking like the Giants.  Although Matt wonders if maybe we'd rather play the Cowboys in Dallas where the weather should be fine and good for a passing game.
